Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter world tour on Thursday night (June 6) at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, giving a carefully designed show that brought her latest album to life on stage.

The concert marked the first stop on the European leg of the tour and introduced fans to a full-scale live version of Cowboy Carter, her eighth (and one of best) studio album about the history and influence of Black artists in American music, specially, country music.

During “I’m That Girl,” one of the opening songs, Beyoncé had a brief wardrobe issue when her gold chaps started to slip. A dancer quickly stepped in to fix the outfit, and Beyoncé continued singing without interruption, handling the issue quickly and professionally.

The rest of the performance unfolded without issues. The stage design pulled from classic country and Western themes - fringe, denim, leather, cowboy hats, and even a mechanical bull - but with a modern and personal twist. This was not a country music tribute show. It was a reimagining of what country music would look and sound like, if it still belonged to black artists.

The tour follows Beyoncé’s historic win at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where the album earned her trophies in both country and general field categories, including Best Country Album and Album of the Year. Cowboy Carter, released in March 2024, debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to lead the country chart. The album includes appearances from country icons like Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, as well as rising Black country artists like Tanner Adell and Shaboozey. Its mix of country, soul and Brazilian funk pushed the genre in new directions and sparked conversations about who is included in country music’s history and who has been left out.

Thursday’s show also featured Beyoncé’s daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi, as the previous ones on tour did. Blue Ivy, now 13, returned to the stage after performing on the Renaissance tour. Rumi, just 7, made her first-ever appearance on a European stage, joining her mother briefly during the show. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour continues across Europe through the summer.
