Cardi B and Nicki Minaj’s years-long feud resurfaced this week after Minaj appeared to reference Cardi B’s daughter in a post that quickly drew backlash and prompted an equally sharp reply.

On Thursday, October 2, Minaj posted what she described as an apology to Cardi B’s six-year-old daughter, Kulture, on X (formerly Twitter). Her message was framed as a letter but struck many as more provocative than conciliatory. “Dear Kulture, truth is: I did all of this for a bigger purpose and one day you’ll understand,” Minaj wrote. “You’re a cute child and lots of kids have cute little funny looking gums before they grow into all of their features.”

Minaj went on to call herself “a child of God and QUEEN of my community,” before turning the focus back to Cardi B and her family. “One day your mother, aunt and many more will be brought to their knees for what they’ve said and tried to do to my young prophet/beautiful boy,” she added, referring to her own son.

Cardi B responded soon after, posting a message of her own in the same format, this time addressed to Minaj’s son. She rejected the apology outright and called for both artists to stop invoking each other’s children. “Don’t give my child no backhanded apology,” Cardi B wrote. “Keep my child name out your mouth cause imma always take you where you don’t wanna go about mine.”

She continued in a separate post, writing, “This going back and forth about kids is really draining my energy. I don’t wanna keep mentioning kids, it feels very nasty and dark, but the energy you keep giving my kids imma resend back to messenger.”

The exchange marks the latest flare-up in a rivalry that has persisted, on and off, since the two rappers’ simultaneous rise to mainstream fame. Their relationship first turned public in 2018 after a confrontation at a New York Fashion Week event. While both have since achieved individual success, Cardi B with two Billboard 200 No. 1 albums and Minaj with a series of platinum releases and sold-out tours, their professional achievements have often been overshadowed by their public disputes.

This latest conflict unfolded amid major moments for both artists. Cardi B released her second studio album, Am I the Drama?, on September 19. The project debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 with 200,000 album-equivalent units, reaffirming her position as one of the most commercially successful rappers of her generation. Minaj, meanwhile, is preparing for her next release, Gag City, slated for March 27, 2026, following the success of Pink Friday 2.

Both women have used social media to express frustration over being compared to one another, a dynamic that reflects the industry’s habit of pitting female rappers against each other. But their personal grievances, often aired publicly, have kept the feud alive for more than half a decade.

While neither artist has issued further statements since Thursday, the incident has reignited broader discussion among fans about boundaries in public conflicts and the extent to which family should remain off-limits. Cardi B, in her response, appeared intent on drawing that line. “Honest truth,” she wrote, “this going back and forth about kids is really draining my energy.”
