Foo Fighters are once again signaling their return to the road. Just days after unveiling their new drummer, Ilan Rubin, during a pair of intimate Southern California shows, the band shared a wry promotional video on Tuesday that leaned into artificial intelligence clichés while promising fans that “there’s more to come.”

The tongue-in-cheek clip, posted to the group’s YouTube channel, appears to have been created with the assistance of AI tools. It shows uncanny visuals that playfully nod to the technology’s well-documented glitches WITH extra fingers, distorted facial features, and scribbled handwriting, while the band’s members emphasize the enduring value of “real” music.

Frontman Dave Grohl drives home the point with a mix of sincerity and humor. “It’s been a while but I’m happy to announce that Foo Fighters are coming back to bring you that 100 percent real, raw, human element of rock ‘n’ roll,” Grohl declares before flashing what looks like a fake setlist, written in AI-generated scrawl. The video closes with the words: “Stay tuned… there’s more to come.”

Though no tour has yet been formally announced, the video leaves little doubt that a larger run of dates is imminent.

The promo follows a weekend of closely watched performances that introduced Rubin as the Foo Fighters’ new drummer. The 36-year-old musician, best known for his stints with Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves, played his first show with the band on Saturday at the 900-capacity Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo. Two nights later, he took the stage with Grohl and company again at the Observatory in Santa Ana.

Rubin’s arrival marks a significant moment in the Foo Fighters’ evolving story. Josh Freese had been filling in behind the kit following the sudden death of Taylor Hawkins in March 2022, but departed earlier this summer. Introducing Rubin from the stage, Grohl gave the changeover an emphatic stamp of approval.

“Everybody else has said it. I finally get the opportunity to say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, will you please welcome… The most badass motherfucker, Ilan Rubin, is playing drums in the Foo Fighters right now. It’s official. You can stamp the passport,’” Grohl told the crowd.

Beyond the California club dates, Foo Fighters already have a handful of international shows scheduled. The band will head to Asia and Latin America later this year, with performances booked in Singapore, Japan, and Mexico. The AI-assisted teaser strongly suggests that a more extensive tour announcement for 2025 is around the corner, likely bringing the band back to larger stages after testing the waters with smaller venues.

The shows also arrive on the heels of new music. Earlier in 2025, the group released their first material since 2023’s But Here We Are: an original single titled “Today’s Song” and a cover of Minor Threat’s hardcore classic “I Don’t Wanna Hear It.” The releases underscored the band’s continued drive to stay active in the studio even as they navigate lineup shifts.
