Halsey Treated in Emergency Room After Boston Show, Says She’s ‘Ready to Rock Tonight’
Singer-songwriter Halsey spent Sunday night in the emergency room following her concert at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, but told fans she expects to continue performing as scheduled. The pop artist, who is currently on her Back to Badlands 10th anniversary tour, shared an update with followers on Instagram Stories, calling the incident a “minor medical emergency.”
“I was in the ER until six in the morning,” Halsey wrote. “I am A-OK now and ready to rock tonight!” She also cautioned that she might take things slower onstage during Monday’s show: “If I’m pacing myself, that’s why.”
While Halsey didn’t specify the cause of the medical issue, the 30-year-old performer has been open about her ongoing health challenges. In 2022, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with lupus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder, both of which have required intermittent rounds of chemotherapy.
In June 2024, Halsey told fans she had just completed another round of treatment ahead of preparing for the tour. Despite her diagnoses, she has continued to perform and write music, frequently using her platform to raise awareness about chronic illness and invisible disabilities.
In her message on Monday, Halsey expressed gratitude toward the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, calling them “the absolute best team I’ve ever met.” She added, “I am so, so grateful!”
Halsey’s Back to Badlands Tour is a commemorative run marking ten years since her debut album Badlands, which launched her career in 2015 with songs such as “Ghost” and “New Americana.” The tour began in October and is set to continue across the United States through mid-November before picking up again in January for a second North American leg. Performances in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia will follow.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Halsey described the tour as both nostalgic and introspective. “The Back to Badlands Tour really is about everything Badlands is about, but in the context of what I’ve learned now,” she said. “There’s a really humbling experience as a musician when you sing a song you wrote ten years ago and realize it’s still relevant. You’re being forced to relive that all the time. That’s really what this tour is going to be about for me.”
The Boston hospital visit is the latest example of Halsey’s determination to balance her health with her career. Since revealing her diagnoses, she has continued to perform high-energy shows, often acknowledging the physical and emotional complexities of doing so.
