JoJo Siwa was briefly hospitalized on Friday after experiencing severe abdominal pain only hours before a scheduled appearance at the Mall of America in Minnesota. The 21-year-old performer later detailed the medical scare in a TikTok video posted Saturday, explaining that what she initially assumed was routine discomfort quickly escalated into what she described as “excruciating” pain.

Siwa said the symptoms had surfaced repeatedly over the past several days, intensifying whenever she danced, exercised, or even walked. Because the pain would ebb and return, she initially dismissed the issue as a menstrual cramp or another benign cause. “I just figured it would pass,” she said, noting that she attempted to ease the discomfort by taking a warm bath. Instead, the pain surged dramatically. “That set it off a hundred times worse,” she recalled.

At that point, Siwa’s mother urged her to call an ambulance. Emergency medical technicians evaluated her at home, where her vital signs appeared normal, but they recommended hospital evaluation given the severity of her symptoms. Once admitted, doctors determined that the source of the pain was a burst ovarian cyst that had been bleeding into her abdomen.

According to Siwa, medical staff explained that the internal bleeding was responsible for the intense, radiating pain. “Any time the blood in your stomach moves, that’s the bleeding,” she told followers, describing the sensation as “brutal.” Physicians advised that the bleeding would likely resolve on its own without surgical intervention, but emphasized that she should monitor the pain closely in the coming days.

Despite the episode and with the help of pain management medication, Siwa ultimately chose to proceed with her Mall of America performance as planned. She said she will undergo a follow-up medical evaluation within the next week to ensure the cyst has fully healed and that no complications develop.

The entertainer also acknowledged that returning to the hospital remains a possibility should her symptoms worsen. “If I vomit or if I have that excruciating pain again, I have to go right back in,” she said. “But for now, we should be okay.”

Siwa, who has been touring consistently and maintaining a demanding performance schedule, did not indicate whether the incident would affect any upcoming appearances. She did express gratitude for her medical team and for her fans, many of whom commented with well-wishes after she shared the update.

Burst ovarian cysts are relatively common and can cause sudden abdominal pain depending on the cyst’s size and whether bleeding occurs. In most cases, they improve with rest and monitoring, though more serious ruptures may require hospital care. Siwa said her doctors expect hers to resolve without complications, but stressed the importance of rest and follow-up.

The episode is one of the more serious health scares Siwa has publicly shared. In her update, she emphasized that she intends to continue with planned commitments as long as her condition remains stable. “We’re going to keep it pushing,” she told fans, while acknowledging that she would prioritize returning to the hospital if her symptoms intensify.
