Liam Gallagher has publicly condemned a fan who set off multiple flares during Oasis’ concert at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday, describing the individual as a “seriously fucked up” person in a statement shared on social media.

The incident occurred during the band’s closing song, “Champagne Supernova,” at the first date of Oasis’ long-awaited Australian tour. According to footage posted online, at least two flares were fired from within the general admission section, landing among concertgoers on the stadium floor. Small fires were briefly visible before security personnel extinguished them.

“To the massive cunt who launched that flare into the crowd last night at the gig in Melbourne, you are one seriously fucked up individual and you will get yours, trust me,” Gallagher wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after the show.

Concertgoers described a moment of confusion as the flares lit up the packed stadium. One attendee, identified as Virginia, told Australia’s news.com.au that she witnessed both flashes from the floor section. “Each time you saw this flash, it looked like a fire, and then it was contained fairly quickly,” she said.

Virginia, who attended with her 13-year-old daughter, added that the incident was enough to make them leave before the song ended. “Once that went off, I thought it was bad and thought we’ll just leave before the end of the song and try and get outside,” she told the outlet. Despite bag checks and security screenings upon entry, it remains unclear how the flares were smuggled into the venue.

A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed to 9 News that the incident was not officially reported, and no arrests were made. Marvel Stadium said that no one was injured and declined to provide further comment beyond Gallagher’s post.

The venue issued a brief statement through 9 News, noting, “We’ll leave the on-record comments to Liam Gallagher’s post.”

The show was part of Oasis’ first Australian tour in more than two decades, with additional performances scheduled at Marvel Stadium on Nov. 1 and Nov. 4, followed by two shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Nov. 7 and 8.

The use of flares and pyrotechnics by audience members has become a recurring safety concern at large-scale concerts, particularly in Europe and Australia. While such acts are illegal in most venues, enforcement remains inconsistent due to the challenges of screening tens of thousands of attendees.

Friday’s incident reignited discussions among fans online about the adequacy of stadium security and the potential dangers of crowd-based pyrotechnics. Though no injuries were reported, many concertgoers noted that the proximity of the flare to the audience could have caused serious harm.

Known for his outspoken demeanor, Gallagher’s post reflected both frustration and disbelief. The singer has often emphasized fan safety during live performances, halting previous shows when security or crowd conditions became unsafe.

As Oasis continues its Australian run, organizers have not indicated whether additional security measures will be implemented at upcoming shows. However, given Gallagher’s strong response, increased scrutiny is expected for the remaining tour dates.
