After two critically acclaimed albums (My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely in 2023 and This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway in 2024) with a breakthrough hit that quietly took over the charts, British singer-songwriter Lola Young is preparing to release what may be the most vulnerable and ambitious work of her career. Her third full-length record, I’m Only F--king Myself, is due out on September 19, 2025, and arrives at a moment when both industry and audience have begun paying closer attention to her work.

The 24-year-old artist announced the album on Instagram, calling it “my ode to self-sabotage, my chance to claw myself back from the edge of defeat”. Her career pivoted in early 2025 when “Messy,” a 2024 release, reached No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart. The track stayed at the top for four consecutive weeks and has since gained over 600 million streams on Spotify, followed by the released “One Thing,” the lead single from her upcoming album.

Much of I’m Only F--king Myself was created alongside her longtime collaborators, Connor Dickinson, Will Brown, and Jared Solomon (also known as Solomonophonic). Their continued partnership draws from soul, alternative pop, and deeply personal lyricism. through themes of self-awareness and instability.

In parallel with her growing discography, Young’s presence on the global stage is expanding. Over the past few months, she’s opened for Billie Eilish during the Paris leg of the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, appeared at Wembley Stadium for Capital FM’s Summertime Ball, and performed at some of the most high-profile festivals in the world, including Reading & Leeds, Coachella, and Glastonbury.

She’s also begun to receive formal industry recognition. In 2025, Young was named Rising Star at the Ivor Novello Awards, a distinction that highlights songwriting over chart performance. She also earned a Best Pop Act nomination at the BRIT Awards, marking her growing influence across both critical and commercial arenas.
