Masked Intruders Raid Macklemore’s Seattle Home While His Children Slept Upstairs

In the early hours of June 7, 2025, the Capitol Hill residence of Grammy-winning artist Macklemore became the site of a violent home invasion, sending shockwaves through the quiet Seattle neighborhood and raising troubling questions about the motives behind the break-in.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident occurred between midnight and 1am when two masked men forced entry through a patio door at the rear of the property. The house, a $2.1 million home in a densely wooded and affluent area, was occupied at the time by Macklemore’s three young children - Sloane, 10; Colette, 7; and Hugo, 3 - as well as a live-in nanny who bore the brunt of the attack.
The intruders reportedly deployed bear mace upon entry, spraying the nanny in the face as they demanded to know the location of valuables. “Where are the jewels?” they shouted, according to statements provided to law enforcement. Disoriented and in distress, the nanny was forced at mace-point to lead the intruders through the house and up to the master bedroom.
What followed was a methodical ransacking of the property. Thousands of dollars’ worth of personal items including jewelry, designer clothing, shoes, and watches were taken. The nanny, whose name has not been publicly released for privacy and safety concerns, was physically pinned down and had her phone confiscated to prevent her from contacting the police. In a moment of desperate resistance, she reportedly bit one of the intruders and managed to flee the scene, alerting nearby neighbors who called authorities.
Responding officers arrived to find the home in disarray. Bear spray canisters and articles of clothing believed to belong to the intruders were recovered at the scene, now in evidence as part of an ongoing investigation. While shaken, the children were found unharmed in their bedrooms and were quickly evacuated by authorities and placed in the custody of family members.
The Seattle Police Department has not made any arrests, and no suspects have been identified at the time of reporting. Detectives have emphasized that the home was specifically targeted and have not ruled out the possibility of a politically motivated attack. One line of inquiry stems from comments reportedly made by the nanny, who expressed concern that the crime may have been connected to Macklemore’s public political stances, particularly his vocal support of Palestine in recent months.
Law enforcement officials, while acknowledging this angle, have stated that all leads are being pursued and that it is too early to confirm a motive. “We are treating this as a targeted and violent burglary. Whether it was politically motivated remains under investigation,” said one officer close to the case.
Macklemore, born Ben Haggerty, has remained publicly silent about the ordeal. Neither the artist nor his management team has issued a statement. Sources close to the family say he is focusing on his children’s well-being and cooperating fully with the investigation.
