During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, rapper Megan Thee Stallion shared a story that left both artists (and the audience) laughing. The Houston rapper recalled an incident from 2021, when she attended Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda fashion show in Venice, Italy, and was repeatedly mistaken for the show’s star performer, Jennifer Hudson.

“Remember that time we was in Italy for the Dolce thing?” Megan asked Hudson. “Jennifer’s security kept snatchin’ me up! They was like, ‘C’mon, we gotta move, we gotta move.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not with you! It’s not me, I promise! But I’ll go with you if you really want me to.’”

The story dates back to an opulent Dolce & Gabbana presentation staged against the Venetian sunset, where Hudson delivered a live performance wearing a floor-length gold gown with her hair styled in a long ponytail. Megan, who was attending the event as a guest, joked that Hudson’s team seemed determined to make her part of the entourage.

According to Megan, Hudson’s bodyguards were so insistent that they began escorting her without realizing their mistake. “Your security kept snatchin’ me up,” she said, laughing. “I was like, ‘Where is my security?’ Maybe they were getting you, I don’t know. But Jennifer’s security wanted me to be Jen real bad that day.”

The confusion wasn’t entirely one-sided. Hudson admitted that she has since experienced the same situation, but in reverse. While attending a recent Super Bowl event, she was mistaken for Megan Thee Stallion by fans. “I was leaving the event, guys, and they was like, ‘Megan!’” Hudson recounted. “I turned around and I was like, ‘Are y’all serious? You think I’m Megan? But if I’m gonna look like anybody, I mean…” she trailed off, smiling, as the audience erupted in laughter.

The conversation continued with lighthearted banter about what would happen if the two women actually swapped places for a day. “What would you do first?” Megan asked. Hudson didn’t hesitate before replying: “How do you get down with those knees?”, a reference to Megan’s famously athletic dance moves that have become part of her stage persona.

Megan responded that the secret lies “in the thighs and the ankles,” prompting Hudson to shake her head and admit, “My thighs don’t work like yours.” The exchange, filled with mutual admiration, highlighted the artists’ shared humor and confidence.

The appearance comes amid a busy year for Megan Thee Stallion, who continues to expand her artistic range and public presence. Last week, she released her latest single, “Lover Girl,” her second release of 2025 following “Whenever.” Both tracks hint at the sonic direction of her upcoming studio project, blending sharp lyricism with a more melodic sensibility.

While Megan’s Venice story offered a moment of comic relief, it also underscored the visibility both women command in pop culture. Whether being mistaken for one another at a high-fashion event or sharing laughs on daytime television, Megan Thee Stallion and Jennifer Hudson remain two of music’s most charismatic figures, women equally capable of commanding a stage, turning heads, and, occasionally, confusing security teams in the process.
