The upcoming Beatles biopic series, The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event, has revealed the actresses who will portray the four women closely associated with the band. The films, directed by Sam Mendes and scheduled to begin releasing in April 2028, will tell the Beatles’ story through four separate but interconnected features, each from a different member’s perspective.

The newly announced cast includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda Eastman McCartney, Anna Sawai (Shōgun) as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood (The White LotusPattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have SexMaureen Cox Starkey. They join Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

In a statement, Mendes described the four women as “fascinating and unique figures in their own right,” adding that the creative team wanted to ensure their stories were integral to the films. “We’re thrilled to have four exceptional actresses bringing them to life,” he said.

The director, who has long expressed interest in portraying the Beatles as individuals rather than as a single collective story, designed the project as a quartet of self-contained narratives that overlap in key moments. Each film will reflect a different point of view, allowing for a broader portrait of the band’s evolution and its impact on culture.

According to the production team, each film will examine how these women influenced the Beatles’ personal and creative lives:

Maureen Cox Starkey (Mia McKenna-Bruce): A Liverpool native who met Ringo Starr at the Cavern Club in 1962. The two married in 1965 and had three children together; Linda Eastman McCartney (Saoirse Ronan): An accomplished photographer who met Paul McCartney in 1967. Their relationship became a lifelong partnership that blended art, music, and activism; Yoko Ono (Anna Sawai): A conceptual artist who met John Lennon during an exhibition of her work in London. Their creative collaboration and relationship became one of the most scrutinized in popular culture and Pattie Boyd (Aimee Lou Wood): A successful model who met George Harrison on the set of A Hard Day’s Night in 1964. Their marriage, and later friendship, reflected the spiritual and artistic changes of the era.

The project, developed by Mendes’ Neal Street Productions in collaboration with Sony Pictures and Apple Corps Ltd., marks the first time the Beatles’ story has been officially authorized for dramatization in this format. Producers confirmed that additional casting for roles such as Cynthia Lennon, Brian Epstein, George Martin, and Ravi Shankar will be announced at a later stage.

With its ensemble of award-winning and emerging talent, The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event is positioned as one of the most ambitious music-related film projects of the decade. When the series begins its theatrical rollout in 2028, it will offer not just a retelling of the Beatles’ history, but a study of the people who defined and complicated it.
