Apple TV+ Sets October Premiere for Martin Scorsese Documentary Series

Apple TV+ will premiere Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary series from director Rebecca Miller, on October 17. The series offers an in-depth look at the life and work of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese, drawing from exclusive access to his private archives and interviews with the director, his family, and longtime collaborators.
The production follows Scorsese’s career from his early student films at New York University to the present, examining the recurring themes in his storytelling, including the conflict between good and evil in human nature. Contributors include Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Jay Cocks, Rodrigo Prieto, and others close to the filmmaker.
A first-look clip shows Scorsese and Spielberg discussing how the original cut of Taxi Driver nearly faced significant changes before its release, and the steps Scorsese took to preserve the film as intended. Miller said the series includes “the true version of a never-before-told story” about that moment, reflecting the director’s commitment to his work.
Produced by Expanded Media and Round Films in association with LBI Entertainment and Moxie Pictures, Mr. Scorsese is executive produced by Miller, Damon Cardasis, Cindy Tolan, Rick Yorn, Christopher Donnelly, and Julie Yorn, with Ron Burkle as producer and Robert Fernandez and Patrick Walmsley as co-executive producers.
Mr. Scorsese is part of Apple TV+’s documentary lineup, which includes STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie, Selena Gomez: My Mind & MeSTEVE! (martin) a documentary in 2 pieces, and an upcoming untitled Fleetwood Mac project.
