Astronomer CEO and HR Chief Placed on Leave Following Viral Coldplay Concert Video

Two senior executives at data platform company Astronomer have been placed on immediate leave after a video clip of them attending a Coldplay concert in Boston went viral and raised questions about their relationship.
CEO Andy Byron and Chief Human Resources Officer Kristin Cabot were captured on the jumbotron during Coldplay’s show at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night. The brief footage appeared to show the pair in an intimate moment, drawing attention from both the audience and online viewers once the clip circulated widely on social media. As speculation mounted, observers identified the two as high-ranking colleagues at the same company.
By Friday, Astronomer’s Board of Directors confirmed that it had launched a formal internal investigation. In a public statement, the company emphasized its commitment to organizational values and accountability. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” the statement read. “The Board has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
According to Axios, both Byron and Cabot were placed on leave as the company examines the situation. The outlet also reported that the public statement was delayed due to ongoing negotiations over Byron’s resignation and potential exit package.
The incident occurred during a recurring segment in Coldplay’s concerts known as “The Jumbotron Song,” where frontman Chris Martin improvises lyrics about audience members shown on the stadium screen. When the camera cut to Byron and Cabot, their apparent reaction - quickly ducking out of view, drew attention particularly once viewers began speculating about their identities. Martin reportedly joked from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” though the band has not commented publicly since.
As the clip spread online, some viewers attempted to identify other people seen near the pair. In response, Astronomer issued a follow-up statement clarifying that “Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event,” after some speculated that another employee appeared in the frame. The company also stated that Byron “has not put out any statement,” refuting online reports suggesting otherwise.
While neither Byron nor Cabot has addressed the matter publicly, the investigation remains ongoing, and no timeline has been provided for when a final determination might be announced.
