Barbra Streisand and Paul McCartney Reunite for “My Valentine” Duet

Barbra Streisand and Paul McCartney have come together for a new recording of McCartney’s ballad “My Valentine,” set to appear on Streisand’s upcoming duets album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two.
Originally released on McCartney’s 2012 album Kisses on the Bottom, “My Valentine” was written as a tribute to his wife, Nancy Shevell. In this new version, Streisand and McCartney alternate verses and blend harmonies on a soft, jazz-tinged arrangement that emphasizes the song’s theme of enduring love. It’s a subtle and intimate reinterpretation that leans into both artists’ strengths as vocalists known for emotional nuance.
The track is one of several featured on The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, a continuation of Streisand’s 2014 album Partners, which paired her with artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Bublé. This time, the project spans generations and genres, including contributions from Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Sting, and Hozier. The first single, a rendition of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Hozier, was released in April.
Streisand, now 83, reflected on the duet with McCartney in a recent Instagram post, describing the experience as a “joy” and calling their studio time “truly special.” She also reaffirmed her passion for collaborations, saying that working with other artists continues to bring out new creative energy.
Beyond simply revisiting familiar material, The Secret of Life project aims to bridge eras of popular music. Streisand’s voice—rooted in classic pop and Broadway—meets McCartney’s melodic sensibilities in a track that feels timeless but grounded in personal connection.
The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two is scheduled for release on June 27, 2025.
