Singer-songwriter D4vd pressed on with his world tour Tuesday night in Minneapolis, even as police in Los Angeles continue investigating the discovery of a body found in a Tesla tied to the platinum-selling artist.
Authorities confirmed that the decomposed remains of a woman were discovered Monday inside the trunk of the vehicle, which had been towed from the Hollywood Hills. The car, later identified as registered to D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was impounded at a tow yard near the southern edge of Hollywood when a “foul odor” led workers to make the grim discovery.
Despite the unfolding investigation, D4vd took the stage at the Fillmore Minneapolis as scheduled. Videos shared on social media showed the 19-year-old performer interacting with the audience, tossing plush Labubus toys into the crowd and delivering a set that included his viral hit “Crashing,” which features Grammy-winning singer Kali Uchis.
Concertgoers reported that Burke did not acknowledge the situation onstage. “He was hyping the crowd like usual,” one fan wrote online. “If you didn’t know what was going on, you would have had no idea.” A source close to the artist told Rolling Stone that Burke had been notified of the investigation and is cooperating with authorities while continuing his Withered tour.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released preliminary details about the victim. The decedent was described as a female with wavy black hair, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a tube top and black leggings, size small. A tattoo on her right index finger read “Shhh…” The medical examiner’s office noted that the remains were “severely decomposed,” making it impossible at this stage to determine the woman’s age, ethnicity, or eye color. “She appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found,” the report stated.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the vehicle had been towed from the Bird Streets, a high-end enclave in the Hollywood Hills known for its celebrity residents. It remains unclear how long the car had been parked before it was removed.
The disturbing revelation has already prompted fallout in Burke’s commercial partnerships. Crocs and Hollister, who recently teamed up for a “Dream Drop” campaign featuring D4vd as a model, issued a joint statement announcing that promotional content with the singer had been pulled pending the outcome of the investigation. “We are aware of this developing story,” the brands said to Footwear News. “With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.”
Burke, who has built a devoted fanbase of more than 3.7 million followers on TikTok, first broke through in 2022 with his moody singles “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” both of which gained viral traction on social media platforms. His debut EP Petals to Thorns arrived in May 2023, followed later that year by the companion project The Lost Petals. In April 2025, he released his debut full-length album, Withered, which he is currently touring.
For now, Burke’s tour itinerary remains unchanged. He is scheduled to perform across North America through September, wrapping the U.S. leg at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept. 20. Dates in Europe, the U.K., and Ireland are planned for October and November.
Law enforcement officials have not publicly connected Burke to the death, emphasizing that the investigation remains in its early stages. The singer’s camp has not issued a formal statement beyond confirming his cooperation.
