Halsey Marks 10 Years of ‘Badlands’ With Expansive Anniversary Reissue and Vinyl Releases

Halsey is commemorating a decade since the release of her breakthrough debut, Badlands, with an expansive anniversary project that brings together demos, rarities, orchestral versions, and live recordings, offering a detailed retrospective of the album that launched her career.
Set for release on August 29, Badlands: Anthology will be issued as a three-disc vinyl set featuring the original 2015 album, early demos, and reimagined orchestral renditions of key tracks. The collection will include never-before-released versions of fan favorites like “Drive,” “Ghost,” “Hurricane,” and “Trouble,” along with select material from Halsey’s 2014 debut EP Room 93.
Among the rarities included are songs that were previously difficult for fans to access. “You(th),” originally part of a limited-edition Badlands box set, and “Garden,” a track Halsey shared on CD with fans during her 2016 European tour, both appear on the reissue. In addition, the collection will feature official remixes by artists including Arty, Lost Kings, and Sander Kleinenberg.
“I can’t believe it’s been 10 years,” Halsey said in a statement released alongside the announcement. “So much has happened in the last decade, but Badlands remains the most exciting musical journey of my life. I have so many unbelievable things planned for this month to celebrate the album that changed my life and introduced me to the fans I’ll love forever. This is just the beginning.”
In tandem with the Anthology release, Halsey will also issue Badlands - Live From Webster Hall on vinyl for the first time. Originally released digitally in August 2020, the live album captures a sold-out show recorded on May 8, 2019, at New York City’s Webster Hall. The concert featured a full-album performance of Badlands and was one of two back-to-back shows in which Halsey played her debut and sophomore records in their entirety.
Alongside the new vinyl editions, a two-CD set will also be released. This format will include selections from the orchestral arrangements, remixes, demos, and previously unreleased material featured on the Anthology set, allowing fans who don't collect vinyl to experience the breadth of the project.
Additionally, the Badlands 10th anniversary rollout will include a new “reimagined and rearranged” version of the album. This updated edition formally incorporates “Gasoline” and “Hurricane”, two tracks that originally appeared only on the deluxe version, into the main sequence, revisiting the album with a fresh sonic perspective.
The reissue arrives as Halsey closes a new chapter in her career. She recently wrapped her For My Last Trick Tour, which supported her 2024 album The Great Impersonator. In the lead-up to the tour, she released the single “Safeword” in February, and in June, she debuted an unreleased track titled “Carry the Weight” during a concert in Salt Lake City.
Originally released in August 2015, Badlands introduced Halsey’s dark alt-pop aesthetic to a wide audience. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured breakout singles like “New Americana” and “Colors.” Its success helped cement Halsey’s presence in mainstream music and earned her a devoted fan base that has followed her evolution through subsequent albums and reinventions.
