The crowd at State Farm Arena didn’t see it coming. During the Atlanta stop of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Make America Slime Again tour on Wednesday night, hometown rappers Pluto and YKNiece reunited onstage for a surprise performance of their viral hit “Whim Whamiee.” It was the pair’s first time performing the track together in months, following a highly publicized rift that had kept them apart throughout much of the year.

“Whim Whamiee,” which peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 over the summer, became one of 2025’s most recognizable youth-culture anthems. Its playful call-and-response delivery, including YKNiece’s now-ubiquitous line “I’m talmbout in it”, turned the track into a viral staple across TikTok and Atlanta’s rap scene. The song also inspired a remix from Lizzo, who recorded her own tongue-in-cheek version, “Yitty on Yo Titties,” for her mixtape My Face Hurts from Smiling.

For both Pluto and YKNiece, the single served as a breakout moment. Pluto later appeared on Sexyy Redd’s “Motion,” while YKNiece landed a verse on Metro Boomin’s “Take Me Thru Dere,” alongside Quavo, Breskii, DJ Spinz, and Bobby Kritikal. Yet as their profiles rose, so did tension between them.

Earlier this year, fans began noticing the two women performing “Whim Whamiee” separately at many of the same venues, including the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash in June, also held at State Farm Arena. In interviews, YKNiece said she was surprised to learn Pluto had scheduled her own solo appearance at one event, and later told followers that their relationship had “fallen apart” though she remained open to sharing a stage again someday.

In May, Pluto dropped a “Whim Whamiee (Remix)” featuring Sexyy Redd, notably without YKNiece. Later that month, she addressed the rumors on The Breakfast Club, saying their disagreement had been exaggerated online. “It’s not beef,” she said at the time. “People love to add fuel to whatever looks like a fire.”

Wednesday’s reunion performance did little to suggest full reconciliation, but it did capture a rare moment of professionalism between two artists whose careers began together. Both rappers kept physical distance while performing, Pluto rapped and danced near one end of the stage, while YKNiece stayed close to YoungBoy’s live band, yet the energy in the arena spiked the moment the song’s opening notes hit.

After their brief joint appearance, YKNiece performed her verses from “Take Me Thru Dere” and Belly Gang Kushington’s “Friend Do (Remix),” closing with a shoutout to her city: “I love y’all, my motherf--king city!” She left the stage without acknowledging Pluto, who continued her own set with selections from her newly released debut album Pluto World.

YKNiece has remained active since releasing her verse on Black Queen’s “Witcha Dude (Remix)” with Saucy Santana in September. Though neither artist addressed the reunion publicly afterward, the moment drew significant attention across social media, with fans calling it “the Atlanta peace offering nobody expected.”
