After a five-year hiatus from releasing a full-length album, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker appears to be signaling that new music is imminent. On July 13, Parker took to Instagram to share a rare glimpse into his creative life, posting a carousel of personal and professional snapshots under the understated caption: “Been busy.”

The post included candid moments with friends and family, behind-the-scenes images from the promotion of Parker’s “ideas machine” for the musical Orchid, and various shots of studio gear scattered across workspaces. But it was the final image that caught fans’ attention: a whiteboard tracking progress on a project that strongly resembles the next Tame Impala album. Every track listed was marked “Done,” sparking immediate speculation that the long-awaited fifth LP could be ready for release.

The update comes on the heels of a low-key but significant event: a surprise DJ set in June at Barcelona’s Nitsa Club, where Parker tested out a new Tame Impala track for the first time. “You guys want to hear a new song?” he asked the crowd, before warning, “You’re going to be the first ones to hear it… There’s no going back from this point on.” While no official announcement has been made, this series of hints marks the strongest indication yet that Parker is preparing to re-enter the spotlight as Tame Impala, the psych-pop project that catapulted him to global acclaim over the past decade.

Tame Impala’s last studio album, The Slow Rush, was released in February 2020, just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the music industry. The record debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, surpassing the chart position of 2015’s Currents, which had become Parker’s mainstream breakthrough.

Since then, Parker has kept a busy cycle. In 2023, Tame Impala celebrated the 10th anniversary of Lonerism with a deluxe reissue, and contributed “Journey to the Real World” to the Barbie soundtrack. That same year, he delivered remixes for Crowded House and Elvis Presley, and lent his voice and production to collaborations with Diana Ross and Gorillaz.

2024 and 2025 have further confirmed Parker’s evolution into a high-demand producer and collaborator. He co-produced and performed on Dua Lipa’s 2024 album Radical Optimism, and contributed two standout tracks to Justice’s Hyperdrama. One of those songs, “Neverender,” earned Parker his first Grammy Award in 2025 for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, a major milestone in a career that has long straddled the line between indie credibility and pop-world dominance.

Parker’s connection to Justice will continue into the year’s end, with the French electronic duo announcing a run of Australian tour dates for December 2025. Tame Impala is scheduled to perform DJ sets as the main support, alongside Ed Banger Records founder Busy P.
