The speculation began on Monday, Aug. 11, when New Heights, the weekly podcast hosted by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce posted a teaser on X promoting a “special episode” with an unnamed guest. The promotional image showed the two NFL players smiling on either side of a blacked-out silhouette, which many fans think bears a resemblance to Swift.

“92%ers, we’re coming back early for a special episode with a VERY special guest,” read the caption, noting that the episode will be released on Wednesday, Aug. 13, a date significant to Swift, whose affinity for the number 13 is well known among her fans.

Beyond the date, fans quickly identified other elements they believe could be clues. The teaser’s glittery orange background aligns with a longstanding fan theory that Swift’s next project will feature an orange color scheme. Jason Kelce also appeared to be wearing an Eras Tour T-shirt in the image, adding another potential connection.

Within minutes, Swift’s official fan engagement account, Taylor Nation, appeared to add fuel to the speculation. Just 12 minutes after the New Heights post, the account shared four images of Swift performing in orange outfits during past Eras Tour stops, accompanied by the caption: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’”

Taylor Nation followed up in the replies with two additional sets of orange-themed performance photos (eight more in total), bringing the number of images shared to 12. Swift’s next album would be her twelfth studio release, following April’s The Tortured Poets Department. For many fans, the combination of the number, the color coordination, and the timing was enough to suggest that an announcement, possibly for “TS12,” could be imminent.

Fans on social media quickly assembled the details into a broader theory. “Glittery orange background, Taylor Nation posted 12 minutes after New Heights, the silhouette is shaped like Taylor, Jason in Eras merch, a ‘VERY’ special guest… what if she announces TS12 on Wednesday the 13th ON ?” one X user wrote.

Others expressed their excitement more bluntly. “TS12 IS ACTUALLY COMING THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” one fan posted, while another noted, “Travis looking to his left with his Taylor smile, Jason wearing merch, I can see the bangs from a mile away… but most importantly, the background… TS12 confirmed to be orange.”

Swift has not commented on the speculation, and Billboard has reached out to her representatives for confirmation.

If accurate, the timing would follow an already historic run of releases for the singer-songwriter. Her 2022 album Midnights earned album of the year at the Grammys, making her the first artist to win the award four times. The Tortured Poets Department spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the third-longest run in chart history.

Swift’s most recent major public project, the Eras Tour, concluded in December after breaking global records. Grossing over $2 billion worldwide, it became the highest-earning concert tour of all time and served as a retrospective of her first 17 years in the music industry. Fans have been anticipating her next move ever since the tour’s final bow.

Whether the clues embedded in the New Heights teaser and Taylor Nation’s posts signal a coordinated rollout or simply a coincidence will become clear once the special episode is released. For now, Swift’s fans are treating Aug. 13 as a date to watch closely.
