Few collaborations in recent memory feel as improbable as this one: Dolly Parton and Mötley Crüe. Nearly four decades after its original release, Mötley Crüe’s 1985 power ballad “Home Sweet Home” has been reimagined, this time with Dolly Parton lending her voice to a new version set to appear on the band’s upcoming compilation From The Beginning. The collaboration is timed to coincide with the launch of the band’s Las Vegas residency at Park MGM, beginning September 12, and reflects a moment of reflection and renewal for both artists.

In a joint statement, Mötley Crüe called the collaboration “a career high,” noting the personal significance the song holds for both the band and their audience. “To have an icon like Dolly Parton sing on a song that has meant so much to us and our fans through the years is an honor,” they said. “We couldn’t be happier to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Home Sweet Home’ in this way.”

The updated track is accompanied by a new music video that mixes vintage footage of the band with scenes of Parton in the studio. The video also highlights the mission of Covenant House, a nonprofit that provides shelter and support to young people facing homelessness. A portion of proceeds from the single will go to the organization. “That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth… makes it even more special,” the band said.

For Parton, the collaboration is the latest in a series of cross-genre partnerships. Following the release of her 2023 rock-inspired album Rockstar, which featured contributions from artists such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, and Sting, her appearance on “Home Sweet Home” continues the effort to explore rock music through her distinct lens. “It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home,’” she said. “I was so pleased they asked me to sing on such a classic.”

This new release also marks a return for Mötley Crüe, who have been off the road since October 2024 while frontman Vince Neil recovered from a vocal procedure. The band is scheduled to perform ten shows in Las Vegas between September 12 and October 3, followed by an appearance at the Rock the Tides Festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico, on November 7, where they’ll share the bill with Def Leppard, Bret Michaels, Extreme, and Living Colour.
