The Jonas Brothers opened their Greetings From Your Hometown stadium tour with a full dose of nostalgia and one of the night’s most talked-about moments came when Demi Lovato stepped onstage for a “Camp Rock” reunion nearly 15 years in the making.

The tour launched Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where the band powered through a career-spanning setlist before introducing a string of surprise guests. The biggest reaction of the night, however, came toward the show’s close. Joe Jonas, standing alone at the mic after performing “Gotta Find You” from the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie, paused before delivering the lead-in: “Ladies and gentlemen… Demi Lovato.”

The crowd’s roar was instant, as Lovato emerged to join Jonas for “This Is Me,” the duet they made famous as Mitchie Torres and Shane Gray in Camp Rock. The performance echoed the film’s climactic scene, with both artists leaning into the nostalgia as fans sang along. Without missing a beat, they followed it with “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” a ballad from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. The sequel, which debuted in 2010, celebrates its 15th anniversary in September.

It was a full-circle moment for the pair, whose on-screen chemistry and off-screen history were formative pop culture moments for Disney Channel viewers in the late 2000s. Social media lit up as the duet trended, with older fans noting the significance of seeing Lovato and the Jonas Brothers together again. Others, less versed in the franchise, revealed generational gaps by asking, “Wait… wasn’t she with Joe?”

Lovato and Jonas fueled the conversation after the show, sharing TikTok clips with one featuring “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” and another tied to a resurfaced interview of fellow Disney alum Debby Ryan, who once recalled telling the network’s president, “I want to make history.” For many attendees, the reunion felt like exactly that.

While Lovato’s appearance capped the night’s surprises, it wasn’t the only guest moment. Earlier in the set, Jesse McCartney joined the brothers to perform his 2004 hit “Beautiful Soul,” marking another early-2000s pop crossover. Alternative rock band Switchfoot also made an appearance, delivering “Meant to Live” and “Hold On,” while Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis took the stage to perform “Loved You Better,” his recent collaboration with the Jonas Brothers.

The Greetings From Your Hometown tour will roll on this week with stops in Washington, D.C., Camden, New Jersey, and Virginia Beach, before continuing across North America.

For Lovato, the cameo comes just as she begins the rollout for her ninth studio album. The singer recently released “Fast,” the first single from the project, which sources close to the artist describe as a vibrant, dance-pop record. “Over the past few years, Demi has found love, joy, and newfound confidence,” one insider told Rolling Stone, referencing her recent marriage to musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes. “She brought that lightness and sense of fun into the studio, and it’s reflected in every track.”
