Dolly Parton has postponed her upcoming Las Vegas concerts, citing health challenges that have interfered with her ability to prepare for the shows. The six performances were scheduled for December at Caesars Palace, marking what would have been her first Vegas appearance in more than 30 years.
In a statement released on social media, the 79-year-old country music legend said her doctors advised her to undergo a few procedures that require her to step back temporarily. “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Parton wrote. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”
Parton added that she would not be able to give audiences the show they expect without taking time to recover and rehearse properly. She emphasized that the decision was about ensuring quality rather than signaling retirement. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she said. “But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures in life.”
Although she did not go into detail about the medical issues, Parton addressed the situation with her usual humor. She joked that at her age it felt like time for a “100,000-mile check-up,” adding that it was “not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.” Despite the levity, her message underscored that she intends to prioritize health before returning to the stage.
The shows were originally set for December 4 through 13, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo, a key week on the Las Vegas calendar that often draws country performers to the city. The residency would have been Parton’s first since 1993, and anticipation was high among fans eager to see her in a more intimate setting than her recent large-scale appearances.
Tickets for the postponed concerts will remain valid when new dates are announced, Caesars Palace confirmed. Refunds will also be available for fans who cannot attend the rescheduled shows.
Parton closed her message by thanking supporters for their patience. “I love you and thank you for understanding,” she wrote. Her announcement was met with widespread support online, with fans emphasizing their willingness to wait for her full return.
With a career that spans more than half a century, Parton remains one of country music’s most enduring figures. While the delay is a setback for her December plans, it reinforces her commitment to performing at the highest standard. At nearly 80 years old, she continues to balance her workload with a focus on longevity, signaling that her next appearance in Las Vegas is postponed rather than canceled and still very much on the horizon.
